EECOM national conferences are Canada’s largest regular gatherings of environmental learning stakeholders, and provide unparalleled professional development and networking opportunities. EECOM’s conferences began in 1995, and have been held annually ever since in locations across Canada.
With most of the world’s population living in urban areas, helping citizens understand their impact on the environments in which they live is key to making cities more livable and sustainable. This conference is well-timed to address growing concerns about the climate crisis by focusing on four central themes: City as Classroom; Indigenous Education; EcoJustice Education; and Water Education. We invite proposals which fit within these broad themes, as well as those that connect these themes to leadership-building, environmental communication, climate action, and policy issues in regards to Urban Environmental Education. Engaging in presentations and discussions on these themes will help all of us build the knowledge and skills needed to encourage learnersin schools and community settings make shifts towards eco justice and environmental sustainability.
